EVERYBODY'S A STAR
EVERYBODY’S A STAR began with one line: ‘What you see in your mind is not what you see with your eyes.’ The thought came during a hospital stay, fentanyl induced no doubt, when perception and reality were not necessarily lining up the way they normally would. But the line survived the moment and eventually found another meaning. Living around Nashville means being around an enormous number of people chasing the same dream. Singers. Writers. Players. Producers. Influencers. Wannabe stars. Everybody has a story, everybody knows somebody, and everybody can build an online version of themselves that already looks successful. That is where the song turns toward social media mania. If everybody is presented as the next big thing, what does ‘the next big thing’ even mean anymore? Open your eyes. Read between the lines. Do not automatically believe the picture somebody wants you to see.
“Nobody is the next big thing when everybody’s a star.”
